Never Neverland

Once
(I’ll never ask again)
you are
-the fractal inside a dream
closing my eyes, (giving you choices)
oh, I’ll give you a ruby slipper

this:
I haven’t seen you. Trees and flowers
have danced while I’ve been gone,
while marble lay, plain and grey.

so please stay.
I hang onto you,
feel so warm
while quickly
I give you the pink/red markings
of my reapplication

and then,
didn’t even notice
(you are; an island; mine)
(can’t resist so don’t)
all the shoulds and shouldn’ts reverberate
I am no longer….

(promises should be kept)
(I never kept promises)

exclamations of fear surface
in moments tender with expectation and regret
and predominant judgment

closing my eyes, giving me choices, whispers
“come here”
those mascaraed blurred with smiles tears eyes
slightly parted, a Colgate white smile
closing my eyes, knows
touch, silk, the kimono unravelled
softly, so daintily

Once…
….the world sighs
you are, you are, whole and complete, you are
spinning
ninety nine, one hundred, one, two, three
stop.
this:
stupendous ink blots crazily stabbing the page
spittle flying
slipping in the mud
that:
perfect shapes, perfect fractals
two moments
Dorothy came home

take me away
(flowers bloom all year round there)
(but God chased them away)
dance with me
now

“I would never want you to be anything you’re not.”
